    I am going from a custom build GD theme to the GD plugin… I have a lot of listing on my sight and have been building my company around this website… I can;t afford to loose info or screw up the SEO (links)… I have created a sub domain and installed the GD plugin on another theme from your website (recommended)… I am using the same domain name and same servers, I just need to be sure my links and SEO will not be affected…

    http://www.lookct.com <—- this is the old theme before the migration.

    What is the best way to go about this migration and will everything translate correctly to the new theme and plugin? Please help.

    Hi,

    I flagged this topic for Stiofan so that he can guide you through the process and avoid problems.

    Your urls will definitely change, so we’ll have to setup 301 redirects to tell google what’s going on, but it’s nothing that it can’t be done.

    Hello, I migrated the dev site… no Places or events are there… I tried to export all listings from my main site and import to my dev site but i get this

    Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do? (export what to what)

    Also can you provide wp-admin, ftp and Database access to the dev site?

    Hi Look,

    That admin password also not working, because you forgot to update .htaccess file in /test/ directory.
    I have updated and now admin credential working.

    I checked in your backend and there are some place listings there. From where they listings are created?

    I need fresh test site which has not performed conversion.
    – Create a test site from live site
    – Disable GeoTheme theme
    – Install GD + GD Addons
    Then leave for us to test conversion from our side so we can do debugging.

    Also we need admin credentials of you main site to look what listings are there with GeoTheme.

    “search & replace “http://www.lookct.com/gd/” to “http://www.lookct.com/” in database.”

    Hi guys, I did as directed… I logged into the /gd dashboard, activated search and replace plugin, ran the plugin http://www.lookct.com/gd/ to “http://www.lookct.com/ and nothing happened. I also put in my API for the maps.

    Maybe im not doing it as you say?

    Also… the ICONS are missing, look on the map menu and popular listing area… i see the words “icon” instead of the actual icon…

    Apparently http://www.lookct.com/gd is gone now after i did a search and replace… I ran a local backup before i made any changes.. hopefully we can get this resolved and kicked off again.

    Hi There,

    Please check now, hi have moved all files from /gd/ to main site and now site working fine.
    Now only things remain is to assign categories to the listings which has not any categories assigned yet.
    You can assign categories by two way:
    1) By manually editing the listing
    2) Go GD Impirt/Export > Export Listings > Set categories > Re-Import

    Let us know if you have any query.
