I’m on the hunt for a hosting provider for my future Geodirectory with Avada template site. I am not a developer and I’m unsure what specifications I should be looking for with a hosting company. I couldn’t find specifically what I should be checking for within the forum or elsewhere. Before I signup with a new hosting provider and part with my hard earned money, what should I check? I’ve seen many hosting providers say they handle WordPress sites, but are there any particlar issues regarding geodirectory that I should be aware of when choosing a provider. I’d prefer a hosting provider located in Australia if anyone has any suggestions, but other countries are OK too.
    Thanks for your help.

Try my host. They have servers in the US and Europe. You’ll be surprised how helpful and responsive the owner is. His name is Chris and he helped me make geotheme and geodirectory work properly on his servers. He can also transfer your existing site at no charge but I think that offer is only for new customers.

Here’s a short blog you can read:

I have my affiliate links on that blog and you can use those links to make a purchase if you like to give me some credit. 🙂

Depends where your users are, I’d try to find someone in your state if you are looking at Australian users. I’d only use an overseas host if the users were based OS, they are painfully slow from here and service is nowhere near as good as local providers.

I’m in Sydney and have had a vps with netlogistics.com.au for years and they provide very good support. If you are hosting more than one site a vps becomes cost effective.

webcity.com.au have reasonably price vps available, but with less flexibility than netlogistics. They have a 40% off special, ending today! 🙂

I don’t know if I would use a shared hosting arrangement for a GD site?

http://www.webhostingtalk.com.au/ is a good site for hosting info, and deals.

Hmmm, not sure where that post went? Maybe too many external links…

I’d look for a vps, becomes cost effective if you are hosting more than one site.

netlogistics . com . au good support, and flexible. I’ve had a vps with them for years.

webcity . com . au less expensive, less flexible, good support. Deal on until today with 40% off!

webhostingtalk . com . au/ for info and deals.

Don’t use an overseas provider unless your users are overseas.

Not sure I’d use a shared hosting for a GD site, Paolo says not to!
