How can I create a child theme of Supreme Directory?

    Hi,
    I am using Supreme Directory theme on my site. I know that supreme directory is itself a child theme of directory starter which updates automatically. How can I customize page templates of Supreme directory theme? Do I need to create a child theme or I can simply customize templates from supreme directory theme files?
