How to enable broad search

I have a list of websites in the directory and they are all in this format: http://www.somewebsite.com

NOTHING is returned when the user searches for:
somewebsite.com
somewebsite
some website

The user has to search for “www.somewebsite.com” in order to find the website he/she is looking for.

Is there a way to modify the search function so that results are shown when the user searches for the above mentioned search terms? Is there a way to search based on key words?

This is the way our search works, things that should work
http://www.somewebsite.com
http://www.somewebsite
http://www.some

We assume you know the start of the search term.

I think either you should force to remove the www when adding or add soem filter to try and account for things like that?
