We don’t have too many listings at the moment. We do have location switcher set up in the top nav menu. We created a top nav menu item titled “Regions” to allow people to view listings in a broader area. In this instance, we’re using the word “regions” to describe specific geographic areas of Oregon, such as Northern Oregon, Central Oregon and Southern Oregon where business listings are currently concentrated. Our current Place Categories are business type-specific, such as brewery, restaurant, cheesemaker, bakery, etc.

We created a Place Tag for each of those regions, assigned the correct one to each listing and then created a submenu that offers user to choose one to see listings in one of the 3 areas.

    1) User selects city (Medford) from Location Selector in top nav. Listings display correctly on the location page.

    2) User then decides to select a “region” from the top nav while still on that location page. User redirected to https://thelocaldish.dbkdev.com/places/tags/central-oregon-1/oregon/medford/. Southern Oregon listings are displaying on the map, but no listings visible on the left.

2)What would be the best way to get filtered listings by our “regions”?

    Thanks!

I think you want to remove the location from the archive URL links.
    You can disable that in

GD – Settings – Locations (tab) – Show advanced –

    Archive urls

Choose whether or not the location should be added to the archive page URL.

    Archive urls on listing page

Choose how the location should be added to the archive URLs on the listing page.

That worked! How would we get the map to zoom in and display just the listings of any particular region (which are set up as place tags), instead of displaying ALL the listings in our database, which is the State of Oregon?

    Thanks SO much!

Maps can be filtered by tags, not categories.
You can explore all the options with a GD Map Widget, choosing between different map types
