How to remove "categories" base?

    The documentation says I can remove GD categories base but I seem to always get the error:

    GeoDirectory permalink error the following rule appears twice: ^places/([^/]*)/?$

    I have the GD permlink set to full location with category.

    How can I adjust this as I need V2 URLs to look like they did in V1 i.e. /places/beaches/

    Hi Ian,

    I have just released 2.0.0.43 which makes the category base a requirement, probably not what you want to hear but it makes GD work with the standard WP permalinks system, if we remove it then we need to trick WP into checking what type to dispaly and then forcing it to display that type as it could be
    places/CAT-NAME
    or
    places/LOCATION-NAME

    V2 has a built in function under GD>Settings>Developer>404 rescue that should 301 redirect any permalink changes from v1 to v2.

    Unfortunately this is a big problem.

    I took a big hit on setting up 301 redirects when I went with GD v1 and this did impact my ranking which I have solved by link building and now I will have to set-up a whole load more redirects.

    This may look like I will have to exit GD and go back to my original custom build site which I can control the links with.

    A sad day as I like the product.
