I am a new customer who just installed V1; no data besides dummy data. You had to help me get my default location to work. I just heard about V2: should I start with that since I haven’t put V1 into operation yet?

I set up a staging site, deleted V1 and tried to install V2. It wouldn’t install because it was looking for the old path. This is the error: Unable to create directory uploads/2018/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server? The old path starts /home/s1 and the new installation has another number instead of s1 of course since it’s a new install.

Directories are writable. I uploaded another plugin to test and it installed, and I deactivated all plugins to test and GD V2 still wouldn’t install, so the problem seems to be only with GeoDirectory.

Should I delete V1 and try to install V2 on the live WP installation?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hello,

GDV2 is still in pre-release, meaning there may be bugs. We are working hard towards a final release.

You can see the current status of GDV2 here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/try-geodirectory-v2/

If you want to try it out, see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/overview/

I cleared Autoptimize every time and deactivated it twice and it didn’t make a difference.

    Hello,

If you are testing it out, a fresh install is a great place to start. Can you make a fresh install of WordPress and try it out there?

    Hi Alex,

That’s a great idea, especially since I’m Managed WP. I’ll do that.

If that works, I’ll do a fresh another fresh install of WP, install V1 and addons remove V1 and install V2…or try to at least.

    Thanks,
    Steve

There is no need to install V1 first if you are starting from scratch.

I already installed V1 on the production server last week but only dummy content is in it.

    I finished testing 2 installations:

I installed V2 and all add-ons on a clean install of a new server.

I installed V1 on a clean install of another new server. Then I deleted it and installed V2 and all add-ons.

I got the same error on both that went away when I deactivated the Location Manager:

GeoDirectory permalink error the following rule appears twice: ^events/([^/]*)/?$
Try making the GeoDirectory permalinks more unique.

Everything else seems to be A-OK.

    Hello,
with that error you can visit the WordPress Permalinks settings and it should go away, a one time warning to check the permalinks. The settings are at:

WordPress – Settings – Permalinks (Resave the settings)

If the error persists, let us know

The site you have linked does not have GDV2 installed.
