I am using a sandbox to test geodirectory–fairly certain we are going to buy a membership.

My use case is that I have a database that was collected in 2016. We want to build it into a directory displayed in geodirectory, and then use the add listing tool for additional people to populate the directory in 2017.

    Couple of questions:

    1. How do I import data with fields other than those listed here (https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/)? I have email addresses and urls. I know there must be a way but I don’t see it.

    2. I want to include a “service area” category–a text field populated with a description of where the business serves. How would you recommend I do that?

    Thanks for helping out!

    Hi Daniel,

    1. The easiest way is to add your custom fields under GD>Place Settings, https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/
Then add a listing with this all filled out and then export the places, you will then see the exact format for each field you want to import.

    2. What about using the tags input and asking them to enter comma seperated zip codes of the areas they serve? Or you could do the same with a custom field, this would make it easier to search for and filter.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
