I’m using the CSV importer. It’s great – thanks!

My question is: can I attach the rows to subcategories? I know you have to use category names…but… what if one subcategory has the same name as a different parent category?

    Thanks

Hello, it’s not possible to add a subcategory with the same name of some other category, even if this one is from a different parent category.
The issue is not on the name, but on the slug, slugs are unique.

I already have categories like this…

    Things
    – Fruit
    – Cars

    Fruit
    – Bananas
    – Apples

So you’re saying I can’t import rows into the subcategory “Fruit” because the importer uses names? Obviously the slugs are different, but I can’t import using slugs?

I know for sure that the importer uses names to import so yes that could be an issue…

I’ll ask to Stiofan if we can extend it to use also slugs.

    thx

p.s. Just as a side note, remember that you should always add the parent category too, whenever a subcategory is used.

You are right it is a bug i guess, for this i have added the ability to use the category slug also which always has to be unique, this will be in the next version 1.3.5

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
