intermittent CSV import failure caused custom text field

    Does the “text” custom field have a character limit? I have been dealing with random csv gd_place import failures that I eventually figured out (i think) were due to importing 255 character text fields into a “text” custom field. It seemed to be accompanied by the following error: “Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/allthepr/public_html/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/includes/custom-fields/functions.php on line 174.”

    I stopped having the problems when I stopped trying to include that field in my imports. How to fix this? Use text area instead?

    I’ll include specific data examples in private post to follow.

    I’ll get the developers to confirm, but it is because a text field is limited, and like you say, you will need a textarea field.

    Hi Daniel,

    Our team is one continent away from global coverage 🙂

    Most text fields are limited to 255, this is for a few reasons, if you need longer then you can either use a textarea or you could alter the DB table manually. However i would highly recommend using a textarea as the best solution in most cases.
