Is it better to add a directory to your main website or keep it separate?

    Is it better to add a directory to your main website or keep it separate as a best practice when starting a new directory?

    Thinking of what might be best for SEO, Geo Mapping, etc.

    What have you all found works best?

    Keeping the Directory on a separate WordPress install, will sure improve both the website and directory website performances.

    To avoid losing SEO benefits of your main domain, it’s better to use website in sub folders rather than subdomains.

    site.com & site.com/directory is better than site.com & directory.site.com.

    Thanks for the reply Paolo.

    You confirmed what I was thinking. Also, one SSL cert will cover the entire website and directory this way and keep the SEO ranking easier to build.
