Here’s my scenario, which I’m sure is common for people building directories: I have two pricing packages, (1) a free Basic listing that allows a limited amount of information, and (2) a paid Premium package that offers a lot more listing information. I add a bunch of listings myself to get the directory started, and give all those listing the Premium package to show people what a full Premium listing looks like. After a while, I want to “expire” all the unclaimed (and unpaid) Premium listings to let them drop down to Basic listings. But I don’t want to lose all the Premium listing information when I “expire” the listings.

I do understand that I can’t go to the backend, manually change the listings from Premium to Basic, and then update the listing. I tested that and saw that Premium info is lost when you do that. Then I saw someone explain (possibly Stiofan) that the expiration has to come from the frontend, and is tied to receiving an IPV signal from PayPal. This suggests that the listing has been claimed and a PayPal subscription added, and a failed payment attempt triggers the expiration. (I’ve got that right, right?)

My question: Is there a way to simulate that process and cause unclaimed listings to expire and drop down to a Basic listing?
