I’m having some difficulty getting the GeoDirectory search function to populate the results pages with consistent listings for a search phrase.

For example, one of our venues is listed under ‘St Mary’s Church Hall’ under the category ‘Hall’. However, if I enter the phrase ‘st marys church’, the results page shows 32 listings, with St Mary’s listed third on page 3 of the results.

If I amend the search to ‘st mary’s church hall’, the results page delivers 0 results.

‘st marys’ delivers 21 results, but ‘St Mary’s Church Hall’ appears half-way down on page 2.

Can you please advise as to how we can generate relevant results on the results page? The search function is a core component of the site, and presently, it’s usefulness is undermined by the randomness of the results delivered.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

There does seem to be issues with the type of apostrophes used, this can be often fixed by making sure they are all the same and correct type. We have a task open to look at this and we will update you once we have a better solution.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

I am still having this issue as well. I created a screen video that shows part of the problem with two different types of apostrophe.

The apostrophe accepted by the search is the vertical one (|), but the apostrophe displayed in the listing title is the forward-angled one (/), which is not accepted by the search.
