    Are you using GDV1?
It should work. Where did you add it?
    Maybe it was copy/paste error?

BTW, you should consider upgrading to V2 because this is a built in option of V2.

That code is only for GDV1.

For GDV2 you can use GD Listings with that option:

    Hi Alex,
Yes I am able to get those by using the shortcode however I am unable to do that on events archive page. Can You Suggest how can I do that.

    Events Archive Page: https://thelocaldish.dbkdev.com/events/
Test page (using shortcode) : https://thelocaldish.dbkdev.com/test/

I will flag your topic for the developers. I am not sure how they planned to add this to GDV2 events management.

Thanks for your patience while they look into it.

    Hello Barbara,

Currently it is not allowed to show single recurring events on main events archive page. It is allowed only via [gd_listings] shortcode.

If you want to show single events then you can achieve by setup page with shortcode [gd_listings].

    Hello,
Following up this item with further questions. We have indeed set up a test page so recurring events will display as a single event. https://thelocaldish.dbkdev.com/test/

(Our site displays single and recurring events in multiple cities in Oregon and we will eventually expand to other states.)

Is there ANY way to link your suggested gd_listings page into the directory filtering system so a user can search Events from a home, location page or archive search bar and be given a list of filtered events by location or category that include both one-time and recurring events (as a single event)?

Otherwise, we are facing what you see on the attached images, which is not at all user friendly or professionally appealing. Many food and drink businesses in our niche directory have weekly and monthly recurring events that will clutter up the display.

Look forward to your thoughts on this.

    Thanks!
    Barb

GD Listings is used on the events page (not GD Loop).
    Does that answer your question?

We have three things going on so perhaps you can help us narrow down what to do:
    1. GD Archive template page with GD_loop. Users can select Places or Events from the same field dropdown on the left side of our Search bar on the home page, Location page, and search page. But downside is all recurrences of events are displayed, as mentioned.
Here’s the shortcodes on our GD_Archive template page:
    [gd_notifications][gd_category_description][gd_search][gd_loop_actions][gd_loop_paging][gd_loop layout=1][gd_loop_paging]

    2. We have an Events page menu item in the top navigation as Post Type Archive, and that too is displaying every event recurrence. This Events menu item was copied over from our live site to our dev site, so perhaps we don’t need it anymore?

    3. A Test page https://thelocaldish.dbkdev.com/test/ was set up by our dev team in response to your suggestion on March 26, 2019 at 1:16 pm #476476 to use gd_listings.
    [gd_listings post_type=”gd_event” single_event=”1″ related_to=”category” sort_by=”az” title_tag=”h3″ layout=”list” post_limit=”50″ add_location_filter=”1″ view_all_link=”1″ category=”0,3654,3836,3655,3652,3830,3656,3833,3832,3828,3829,3540,3657,3870″]

Is the gd_listings shortcode supposed to be used on one of the GD template pages to achieve our goal of making events searchable from a home, location or search page search bar along with Places?
    OR
Should we be using gd_listings on the GD_archive page?
    OR
    Some other method?

Thanks very much for your patience!

    1. It is not currently possible to remove recurrences from gd_loop output. Use a location page instead?

    2. Same issue with gd_loop, see #1 above.

    3. Yes, you can use as many different GD Listing shortcodes as you want on the Location page template, with location filter option checked, to slice and dice your listings for viewing together on the location page.

The GD Listing default content is the only template that contains gd_listings. You can add GD Listings on any page but it is specifically and especially useful on the Location page where the option for filtering location is necessary.

    1. We are using a Location page: [gd_listings post_type=”gd_place” sort_by=”az” title_tag=”h3″   layout=2 post_limit=”30″]. See attached image 1.

When we click See All at the bottom of the Location page or we select Events in the top search bar on the location page, it directs to a Archive template page where we’re using gd_loop. See attached image 2.

When you suggest using several shortcodes, is that primarily used in situations with a different page layout?

Is there a way to keep our location page layout and if the user selects Events from the search bar, the display switches from places to events right on that location page rather than redirecting to a Search/Archive page?

    Sincerely,
    Desperately Seeking Solution 🙂

One might use multiple GD Listings one each for, for example:
    CPT A – Featured
    CPT A – All/Random
    CPT B – Featured
    CPT B – All/Random

Is there a way to keep our location page layout and if the user selects Events from the search bar, the display switches from places to events right on that location page rather than redirecting to a Search/Archive page?

GD Loop layout can be set, as in List or Grid 2, just like GD Listings. Is that what you mean?

    Hello,
We already have a Places/Location Switcher Menu item in the top navigation header using the Location page template.

    1. We’d like to set up a top navigation Events menu item that leads to a different Location page so we can use GD-Listings shortcode and take advantage of the “show single recurring event” setting. Can we use the Location page template default content on a standard WordPress Page and then add the GD Listing shortcode setting options? We weren’t sure if we could use the Location Page template or default page content for pages other than the Places menu item?

This is the shortcode I came up with (minus the location page default content):
    [gd_loop_paging][gd_listings post_type=”gd_event” event_type=”all” single_event=”1″ sort_by=”az” title_tag=”h3″ layout=”gridview_onehalf” post_limit=”6″ add_location_filter=”1″ view_all_link=”1″ bottom_pagination=”1″]
We haven’t specified a default category.

The issue we have is that as soon as a visitor on the main Events Location page uses the search bar to refine the search by category or city on that main events page, they are redirected to a Search page, where the “single recurring event” setting doesn’t work.

Are we configuring this correctly? Thanks very much!
