I am trying to make this a curated directory. I do not want owners of the establishments in the directory to create their own listings by creating user accounts. There is only a small number of these types of businesses in the area I cover and the “added value” I bring is a clear, concise presentation of their qualities, without all the florid language and inconsistencies you find on their websites. I do want third party users to create reviews, but I do not want the businesses to create their own entries. How do I modify the product to suit this specific goal?

Have a look at GD > Design > Navigation, and turn off the option to add listings from the front.
    More at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#navigation

    Thanks

Thanks. I would also like to suppress displaying my own identity, mainly how my avatar appears at the top of every listing entry.

Without knowing which theme you are using and seeing your site, I cannot give any advice.
    Have a look at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/customizing-your-style/
and if still stuck, post a URL of the page in question.

    Thanks

I was able to turn off the gravatar. Thanks. Here’s a new problem though. I find that I can no longer open any listings from my iPhone… I’ve tried this with the safari and chrome browsers and when I try to open a listing (wineries) I get this message “Looks like nothing was found at this location”
Everything works fine on the desktop version though, even when I shrink the browser window down to smartphone size.

    Very strange…

Please post WP admin details in a private reply so we can check your settings.
It looks like either the permalinks are not set correctly or some caching issue.

    Thanks

Please check now. All listings needed publishing.
How did you add the listings? With a CSV import? If yes, what did you put in the “status” column? We are just trying to understand what happened.

    Thanks

Let me ask you a question first. Wasn’t there a Quick Edit option on the Places (Wineries) listing page before? Because what I recall doing was choosing all places and making a quick edit that added Southern Oregon as the primary category for all places (wineries). The thing is that I don’t see Quick Edit as an option anymore. If the configuration is as it now exists I don’t know how I accomplished that, but I’m sure that’s why I did. And doing that would probably explain what went wrong, don’t you think?

Quick edit option has been removed, because it couldn’t work for tags and categories correctly.

You should use export / edit / import for similar things.

    Thanks

I am guessing you mean bulk edit, if you changed categories for all listings all at once.
    Bulk edit is still available.

    Thanks

I ran a test on my test site, and if you do a bulk edit without changing the status, it sets all published listings to a status of -1.
I alerted a developer to have a closer look, to see if this is a bug that needs fixing.

    Thanks

Yes, I see it now. I can still do a bulk edit. That is indeed what I did.

    Hi There,

Actually bulk edit action should not be there for GD listings. Bulk action causing problem and breaks the listing status.
From next release bulk action will be disabled for GD listings.
