Link custom types – Fill in Business Details

Hi,

I’m a little confused as to how the linking of custom types works. I have two custom types: people and places. A person can be associated with a place.

When create a new post e.g. a person it looks like after selecting ‘Link Place’ you have to press the ‘Fill in Business Details’ button. Which isn’t necessary in order to simply link two custom types. So that is confusing.

But I’m not really sure what the point of the ‘Fill in Business Details’ button is. It deletes the name of the post, and deletes any text I’ve entered into the main box, simply replacing it with the text/ address/ contact details from the Place post. I don’t really understand why it would replace all of that info. The address and contact details are useful but not deleting the info I’ve just entered about the Person.

Is this expected? If so can you explain how you think it should be used more effectively?
