    Hi

I’m using Geodirectory to run a directory of software tools for market research https://insightplatforms.com
    Geodirectory version core 1.6.30
CPT (1.3.7), Advance Search (1.4.93) and Payment Manager (2.0.34) add-ons installed
Astra Pro theme and Beaver Builder page builder.

I currently list everyone with a ‘basic’ (free) listing that restricts each vendor to appearing in a single category.
I want to monetise the site by selling a package that allows vendors to list in up to 3 categories. I will also offer a featured listing option which will be capped at max 3 featured listings per category.
My challenge: how do I have a pricing option that includes both …

    * listing in multiple categories AND
    * The ability to be featured – but just in a single category?

    Is this even possible?

BTW I am a non-coding novice. Just a few bits of copied CSS.

    Many thanks

The Pricing Manager addon has price package settings that can be used to allow/exclude categories, or to set whether a particular package is featured.

There is no way to set a max number of listings per category without a customization. After the first ‘3’ signups in a category, that particular category could then be excluded in the price package, but users with listings in the excluded category would not be able to update and apply that category again.

    Hi

    Thanks for the fast reply!

I think we might be talking at cross purposes. I will actually manage (in the short term) all the updates to the site, and I won’t be allowing vendors to manage their listing directly on the site. It will all funnel through me – so I can easily maintain the max listings per category manually.

My question was really whether it is possible to (for example)

    – allow vendor A to be listed in category 1, 3 and 5
    – have vendor A as a featured listing
    – but restrict vendor A’s featured status so that he is only listed as featured in category 3 (and not category 1 and 5)

Is that possible? With or without customisations?

    Many thanks Alex

    – allow vendor A to be listed in category 1, 3 and 5
    yes
    – have vendor A as a featured listing
    yes
    – but restrict vendor A’s featured status so that he is only listed as featured in category 3 (and not category 1 and 5)
    no

Featured status is not related to category. it is ‘additional’ to the listing.

OK, thanks for confirming. Is that something I could pay a developer to do (have a featured listing in just one category)?

Also, I have another issue re sort order of listings – should I add it here or create a new ticket?

    Thanks again

You can contact GD developers here: http://geodirectoryexperts.com

This topic was about pricing and categories. Make a new topic if it is for a different issue.

    Thanks
