I’m using Geodirectory with “Directory Starter” and “Supreme Directory”. When trying to load the default “Add Listings Page” using Elementor Pro, I am getting a “The Preview could not be loaded” message.
Also, although I can open both the “Listing Preview” and “Listing Success” in the standard WP editor, the Gutenburg editor and Elementor Pro, both of these pages are blank when opened ???
All standard WP pages/blogs load and can edited just fine.
Fwiw – neither the old WP editor and the new Gutenburg have any issues opening the “Add Listings Page”.
As an aside, it would be great to see some in depth video or even just textual explanation on how to customize this form –
hopefully you are able to suggest a fix for this
thanks in advance
b. stensrudJune 26, 2018 at 5:23 am #436182Hi Brian,
Thanks for your post. Could you tell us what are you trying to change? by default, the GD pages are configured here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-permalinks/ . But if you wish to create your own custom “Add Listing” page, you can use shortcode https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/#add-listing
June 26, 2018 at 5:26 am #436183GeoDirectory will replace the content of any of the GD Pages and Page templates with GeoDIrectory content. In some cases, there can be a conflict. Builders should not be used on the add-listing page. The content should be overridden, but if there is a conflict just remove the builder and builder content from the page to restore the functionality.
The add-listing form is quite complex and is one of the least often customized.
Builders can be used on any other WP Page or post, though, and on a WP Page used as the custom home page with GD shortcodes.
June 26, 2018 at 9:28 pm #436274Hi Kor – thanks for such a quick reply,
I don’t quite know how to explain what I want – I guess I was hoping to be able to completely customize this page as I find it too cumbersome/complicatged for our upcoming needs.
Also, I have just removed GD plugin and themes, ( deleted folders from the directory as well ), and then re-installed the GD plugin, and for themes I added DirectoryStarter and SupremeDirectory.
I’m aware of the “Permalinks” section and this is all set up properly. I tried using “Place Settings” as I assumed this was for doing a bit of customization on the “Add Listing” page, but the changes I made were not shown when the page opened. I did this prior to the un-install mentioned above.
With my new install, when I open the “Add New Listing” page with WP’s default editor, it looks the way it is supposed to (attached : “AddListPage_HtmlFromWpEditor.txt”), but when I preview or open the page from the actual site most of the page’s content has been duplicated ( attached : “AddListingPage_LiveFromTheSite.txt”). Both attachments are pure HTML so changing the extension should allow you to open in a browser to see what I’m referring to – the “live” page was too large to get a proper screen shot.
Both attachments are the output from new brand new install.
I’m going to give your tip re: customizing using the shortcode and see how that goes. Are you aware of any type of example that would be available to check out as a starting point for this ?
EDIT : I just created a new AddListing page with only the base shortcode [gd_add_listing], and a preview of this page also shows with the content duplicated ??
thanks again

🙂2nd EDIT: If you load the “live site” html, you will notice that it is also showing the warning/error messages for both Records and the Map :
No Records Found
Sorry, no records were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again.Map Not Loaded
Sorry, unable to load Maps API.You will notice that in the top section there is no map, but the duplicated section does contain a map.

Sorry for the late response. Could you please share WP admin access in private reply so that we could check out your GD setup?
Thanks!
June 28, 2018 at 11:21 pm #436525Hey Kor –
-
no worries at all
– let me preface this with the fact that although I have been developing software for many years, I am a complete rookie re: WordPress (and obviously to all the possible themes, widgets, etc)
I say this as most likely the issues were caused by me – widget incompatibilities, theme limitations vs my expectations, and even the terminology used. That being said, I did purchase your “Custom CPT” add-on, and with that implemented all the issues described previously have been cleared up. Sorry if this caused you to waste time investigating …. please don’t spend any more time on this unless you feel there might be an issue other than “user error”.
I was also able to implement a custom listing form (not exactly what I want, but getting there.
A couple of probably simple questions you could answer for me though :
1. Is it reasonable for me to look at “Listings” as simply a special type of Blog that consists of specific fields to be filled in, as opposed to a typical free-text blog?
2. What is the typical method of showing these listings ? – Custom page with a widget ??
thanks again Kor

🙂June 29, 2018 at 2:21 am #436532Hi Brian,
Let me try to answer your questions accordingly.
1. Is it reasonable for me to look at “Listings” as simply a special type of Blog that consists of specific fields to be filled in, as opposed to a typical free-text blog?
In GD, we do have an option that allows you to “Select CPT to disable physical location” https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-general/2. What is the typical method of showing these listings ? – Custom page with a widget ??
Via Shortcodes https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/ or widgets https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/widgets/June 29, 2018 at 2:28 am #436534thanks again Kor – much appreciated
