    Dear,

May be I’ve missed out an important part of your documentation. As I am trying to understand the basic terms/logic behind the renewal and upgrade of listing. I have set to non-recurring payment, thus manual renew/upgrade by the user is required.

    1. Renew listing. User extend the expiry of the same listing package. Meaning the new expiry date (no. of days) will be added to the current remaining days. But, as you can see in the attachment, the user renew immediately upon receiving the 10days notification. However, the new expiry date is not inclusive of the remaining days.

    2. Upgrade listing. My understanding is If there is multiple listing packages, the user can upgrade (to higher priced package). However, it still shows the ‘upgrade’ link, even there is only one (free) listing package. Kindly clarify the intention of this.

In addition, may I know whether the expiry of the newly upgraded listing will be added to the remaining days?

    Thank you for your attention.

    Keep up the great works!

    GeoDirectory version: 1.5.2
    Addon plugins version: latest.

    Hello,

#1 This did not seem to work all the time so we have added a fix and it will be in the next version.

#2 The upgrade button shows no matter what, it is not hidden if there is only one package.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hello Stiofan,

First off, thanks for your prompt reply and support.

I would like to take a moment to express my concerns of the ‘Renew Listing’ and ‘Update Listing” issues, which I believe majority of the users would agree that business logic is important to the both the clients and business owners.

To be honest, I find the “renewal and upgrade” features the most confusing part of Geodirectory. And it tends to raise many business issues, which we, as a business owner, try hard to avoid. On the positive side, I personally find GeoDirectory a top business directory plugin I can get. The support team is genuine and responsive. It posses brighter future than what I can see in other directory theme/plugin in the market. Therefore, like many other users, I would want to invest times and efforts to build a business around GeoDirectory.

Although your reply did not stop my fears totally, but as a business owner, I sincerely hope you can improve and streamline this small but extremely important part of GeoDirectory in the upcoming update. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly trust and respect your expertise in this field. So, while you are looking into this matter, may I suggest you consider add an option to allow admin to turn on/off the “Listing Upgrade” individually from the package offered (pricing module). At least it helps in certain way, in my opinion. Of course, you would be a better position to find out if it’s the best for business and user.

Thank you for your attention. Keep up the great works.

    Hi David,

I’ve added this task for the developers:

“add a new option in prices : Has Upgrades : Yes/No.
If the admin set no, the upgrade button won’t show for listings in that package. Option should be Yes by default. This will prevent users seeing the upgrade button when there is only 1 price, for example, or when the listing is already on the highest price level.”

Let us know if this will be enough to stop your fears. We want you happy, not scared 🙂

    Thanks

This option has been added and will be in next release of prices and payments add-on.

    Thanks
