I accidentally typed in this link and it causes all the listings to become unavailable on the site until the browser is restarted.

    mysite_URL/places/admin/

Not a big deal, more of a heads up.

    wp 3.9.1
gd all plugins as at 2014-05-21
(I’m not using places in my breadcrumbs, all addons activated)

here system treated ‘admin’ as a city and set that as ur default city.
Now go to a different city link manually or if u have mulitlocation then use location switcher to remove this city selection.

    Please advise ?

    Hi Vikas,

I’m not using city selection in permalinks, I don’t have the location switcher enabled.

My site does not allow city selection or changing – I disabled them because, as mentioned previously selecting a city locks the site into that city until the location switcher is used to select “everywhere”. I think this will confuse users – it confuses me! As requested previously, “Everywhere” should be reset when the home page is selected.

I don’t want city filtering at all – how do I remove it completely?

    Hi Vikas,

Is there any way to add the location switcher to a custom menu?

    Hi Vikas,

I want Everywhere locations to show – typing a city into the url will show the listings for that city, but I have NO WAY of getting all locations back again. Whenever I add a new listing that is not in the default city, I have to exit the browser for that listing to show up.

How about making the location switcher a plugin so that it can be added into any of the widget areas on the site, instead of a menu add-in?

I am using a custom menu, my theme only supports a custom menu, so I can’t use your location switcher menu option, so I can’t switch locations???

    Thanks Vikas,

That adds the “Change Location” top menu to the custom menu, but the locations droplist is not visible on selection of this menu item for my theme. (The code is generated, it just doesn’t appear when selected – I might dig around to find out why?)

(It would be better if this functionality was a a separate widget, then we wouldn’t have problems with menus!)

BUT – while experimenting with this, I have found that the url…

    siteurl/location/

…seems to reset the place filter to “everywhere”?

If this is true, then maybe I can add a link for “All Listings” pointing to this url to reset the filter. I’ll continue working on the design and let you know if this solves my concerns.

    Sure.
I am working on making location switcher more easy.

    Thanks
