    What add on must I add so that location will be set for user? And is it advisable to turn this feature on if the directory I run is very local.
    What will display for the user if they are in a different city or country, will the map in my front page still display my listings in the city I have them?
    I guess what I want to make sure is that if they accept using the locator it’s not going to change the location to where they are. I hope you understand what I’m trying to ask.

    Hello, to enable the share location feature you can activate the Share Location addon, or if you have the Advanced Search addon, go to the GD settings, then Advanced Search and you’ll find the option “Ask user if they wish to be geolocated”.

    When an user is on a different country, he will see the closest listing/city to his location (for example, if there are 2 listings, one in London and one in New York, and I’m in Italy, I’ll see the London first), so I don’t know if it’s advisable.

    Hi,

    the Share Location addon shouldn’t be used at all. It’s obsolete and not supported. It doesn’t work with latest core.

    If a user accept to share their location and there are no listings near them, they will be taken to the closest location in your database where there are listings available.

    I’ve finally found this after a frustrating time searching this site and the web!

    If the Share Location addon is obsolete and unsupported, then WHY enable me to download and install it before having to delete it and wonder if in deleting it I might have deleted files that were shared with Advanced Search that now apparently has this functionality?!!

    OK – it’s a rhetorical question born of exasperation – please take the addon off of the download list for logged in members.
