    Hello everyone,

After the recent updates, new Location Descriptions are not showing. The Location Description Text and Meta Description appear in GeoDirectory/MulitLocations/SEO Setting, but do not appear in the Frontend. Location Description Widgets are in place. Here’s an example of a location where a Description was entered after the updates: https://rvtravelguidebook.com/location/arizona/florence/

I also noted that Location Descriptions entered prior to the recent updates are showing just fine.

Some help resolving this issue would be appreciated 🙂

    Thanks
    Mike

It looks like it is working on our demo:
    https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/location/united-states/california/san-francisco/

I don’t see the widget loading in code on your page.

Do check the settings on the widget to make sure it isn’t hidden.

You can make a private reply with your site URL and WP Admin if we need to take a look at your settings.

I cannot replicate that on my test site.
I suggest de-activating your caching, and all custom code snippets to see if that fixes it.

If that does not sort it, post access details as Alex suggested, together with FTP details.

    Thanks

    Hey Alex and Guust,

Thanks for the replies! Tried your suggestions with no success. As I mentioned, Location Descriptions worked perfectly with all my plugins, snippets and caching as they are. The issue started immediately after installing the recent GeoDirectory updates.

After digging around some more, one thing I did find…if you enter a Location Description and/or Meta Description through the Multilocations/Manage Location Tab, the Location Description works.?? Prior to the updates, I could enter a Location Description and/or Meta Description through the Multilocations/SEO Settings Tab or Multilocations/Manage Location Tab and both worked.

It seems to me that either something in the MultiLocations functionality has changed or something is not working correctly.

Personally I’d rather enter a Location Description and/or Meta Description in the Multilocations/SEO Settings Tab because I can enter a Location Image and Image Tagline at the same time.

I’d really like to get this fixed. I’ll post access info in case you need to take a look around.

    Thanks!
    Mike

I added a new location to your site (deleted now) and added meta title, meta description and location description using the SEO settings, and they all worked as expected for me.
Please check again, I cannot see any problem on your site.

Ugh! Thanks Guust for following through on this. I have no idea what’s going on here.

Here’s an image of the backend Multilocations/SEO Settings for Flagstaff: Backend Image

And here’s an image of Flagstaff in the frontend: Frontend Image

In the frontend the Meta Title appears correctly and the Image and Tagline appear correctly, but as you can see no Location Description. The same results are achieved with both the Laptops being used to publish to this site. I also checked to see if it was a browser thing. We use Firefox, so I checked on Chrome and Explorer. Same results. Any other ideas?

I can workaround by adding Description and Meta Description in Manage Location Tab and then add image and tagline in SEO Settings tab, but that’s obviously not the best case scenario. I also still don’t understand why the Description and Meta Description will take in Manage Location tab and not in SEO Settings…doesn’t make sense to me 🙁

Thanks for any further assistance you can provide!
    Mike

I had flagged it for the developers, I will remind them. Sorry about the delay.
Can you send us an example where we can recreate that. The examples you gave before seem to be fixed?

Checked on it again today and it appears that someone resolved the issue…it’s working again. Whoever solved the problem, Thanks!

I apologize…I jumped the gun. It’s still not working properly. Clinton Missouri would be another example. Text appears in Multilocations/SEO Settings tab, but not in Frontend 🙁

    Hi Michael,

I re-saved SEO data for Clinton city and it now shows location description. Please check and let us know https://rvtravelguidebook.com/location/missouri/clinton/

FYI for cities you can also manage location meta/description from Manager Location > Edit Location page.
