I am trying to add a meta description to the Listing Page Meta Description in GeoDirectory settings so that the meta description states something like:

    Restaurants in Chicago

I thought something like this would work

    %%category%% in %%location%%

It displays OK when the location is set to the city. However, when location is “Everywhere”, all I get is “Restaurants in ” i.e. it leaves a blank space in the meta description where the location name should be.

Normally I have seen it insert “Everywhere” when the location is set as such?

At present, if it could state “Restaruants in Everywhere” that would be OK because I assume I could change ‘Everywhere’ to ‘All Cities’ or something in the translation file?

    Try

    %%category%% %%in_location%%

    Listing Page Meta Title is:

    %%category%% %%in_location%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

When location set to Everywhere, the title just displays as, for example, Hotels | MySite

It’s only when the location is changed to a specific City that it changes to e.g Hotels in New York | Mysite

    Is that intentional?

Yes, it is. The location will be included, unless no location is selected.
That is why there is a difference between %%in_location%% and %%location%%
