Hey there, I hope you’re having an awesome day so far 🙂
I’m trying to setup two Regions in New Zealand: Wellington Region (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Wellington/@-41.1341007,174.3535011,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6d3f5205bd43cf57:0xf7ade3e9c48078c2!8m2!3d-41.0299323!4d175.4375574) and Auckland Region (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Auckland/@-36.5846459,174.2874807,9z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6d0cd6af8570c4fd:0x611b5d936c5cc416!8m2!3d-36.7422814!4d174.5222189).
I’ve got them both in there, with Wellington City and Auckland City defined within them. However, when I try to add in a new listing with addresses within the Wellington or Auckland regions I just get a constant alert pop up saying: “Please choose any address of the (Auckland,Wellington) regions only.”
For example, my business address is within the Wellington Region:
4/28 Bridge St, Lower Hutt, 5010.
What am I missing? Thanks for your time! This reply has been marked as private.
You’re trying to add a listing in Lower Hutt but only allowing listings in Wellington or Auckland.
Your locations have to be consistent with the Google Maps API, which treats Lower Hutt as a different location/city than Wellington itself.
Thanks Guust. That makes sense! My next question then: is it possible to only limit listings by Region instead of by Region & City? Or do I need to manually add in every city in a region for this to work?
Cities are automatically added when adding Places [or other CPT].
You can restrict by region(s).
Hmmm.. Maybe I’m missing something. So if “Cities are automatically added when adding Places [or other CPT]”, then why do I get the “Please choose any address of the (Auckland,Wellington) regions only.” when trying to add new places which are within the Auckland/Wellington regions as in my example above?
You have renamed the regions from “Auckland” to “Auckland Region” in the city location settings.
Your locations have to be consistent with the Google Maps API, which treats “Auckland Region” as a different region than “Auckland”.
You are restricting locations to 2 regions that do not exist according to Google, so you will not be able to add any extra locations.
I suggest you drag the marker on the map for each city to the correct location before re-saving the location.
You will see that “Auckland Region” changes to “Auckland”.
Ditto for Wellington.
Ahhhhhh. Now I’m with you 🙂 Thanks for that!
The other missing factor was the “Enable multi cities” option in GeoDirectory -> Settings -> Locations -> Settings. I had it selected as “Enable selected cities”.
Thanks again for your help Guust.
You’re welcome 🙂
