    Hi,

Wondering if anyone might know what I did wrong to cause the location page to be an unorganized mess. The locations and categories are not lined up and there are big empty spaces.

    Here is the link:
    https://nhtourguide.com/wp/location/

Looks like this in both FireFox and IE

I should add that I am aware that this has a lot to do with the categories and subcategories, I was just hoping to not have it look so unorganized.

    Have a look at
GD > Settings > Pages > Location page
and edit the GD categories element to tidy up the category display.
Because you have so many categories, I would hide the subcategories except on the category pages.
Edit the GD Categories element for example like this:

    [gd_categories post_type="0" hide_empty="1" max_level="0" max_count="all" max_count_child="all" title_tag="h4" sort_by="count"]

Remove the map, because you already added it in the GD Top section as a widget.

    Thanks

Worked perfectly! Thank you!! That actually help me do other things I have been wanting to to as well so thank you for the detailed explanation!

    One question…
Since I removed the subcategories how do I add those to the places/category/CATEGORYNAME pages?

If you want to add the GD Categories widget to pages like https://nhtourguide.com/wp/places/category/legends-of-nh/ then go to GD > Settings > Pages > Archive page, and add the categories shortcode there.

    Thanks

Thanks!! Is there any way to add the subcategories to the top of a category page? So when you click on a main category that has subcategories it will take you to the main category page with the subcategories listed above the results?

    Yes, go to
GD > Settings > Pages > Archive page, and add the GD>Categories shortcode there.

    Thanks

Sorry Guust, I just re-read my question and I wasn’t clear. When I add the shortcode it displays all categories and subcategories.

What I was thinking was lets say you have a main category for “Campgrounds” – when someone clicks on Campgrounds I wanted to have the Campground category page display the sub categories for campgrounds only, like “Campgrounds with electrical hookups”, “Campgrounds with swimming pools”, etc

    Yes, go to
GD > Settings > Pages > Archive page, and add the GD>Categories shortcode there.

    Have you tried it?

Please provide working admin access if you want me to add the shortcode.

    Thanks
