Location Switcher

    Hi Guys,

    Is this how you planned it to be?
    -If a user is on the sublisting page with places (or events), and he switches the location from city A to city B, then he is being redirected to the homepage as well.
    We think it should be more logical that he would stay on the page where he is, and that the results would just change.

    He is not redirected to the homepage of your site, but to the start page for that location.
    If your widgets are set to filter for location, then only listings for the location chosen by your visitor will show.
    Basically, if a visitor chooses to see all listings for a location by choosing that location, that is where he/she will be taken.

    You are suggesting that if a visitor is looking at all the listings of a subcategory for example, that if they choose a different location, then only that subcategory for the new location should be shown. I think it is more logic that if you choose “Aalsmeer”, then you want to see everything in Aalsmeer for starters, and then you can always drill down.

    We were also having problems with the location switcher. Once a user had selected a location, they are pretty much stuck there. We removed the Everywhere option and so far so good.

    More location switcher issues. When a user selects a location without listings, they receive an error message “Sorry nothing found!” However the switcher stick on “Please wait” We’d like to change “Please wait” to “Select a new region or country” or something to that effect. How can we make that happen?

    Your users should be able to get out the location they chose by going to Everywhere, or by selecting some other place if you removed that option.
    I guess you can change theWait text in the language file of the multilocation addon, but I can’t check that for the moment.

    Hello

    When on a CPT page and I select a place through the location switcher, I am taken to another page. Is it possible when I select a place the switcher refreshers on the same page?

    Hi Gary, the way it works is that when you choose a location , you are taken to the home page for that location, using the location template.
    If you want to show the same type of listings but in a different location, you can use the search function.
