We have permalink settings set to the below as in your demo:

    Listing url prefix – listings
    Location url prefix – directory

We also have the following set up. We are only using one country and one region.

Add location slug in listing urls – Checked
Add full location info with country, region and city slug in listing urls – Unchecked
Add city slug in listing urls – Checked

The location switcher includes the country, region, state, and city in the URL, like this “/directory/united-states/arizona/apache-junction/.” I understand from reading other posts here that the option to include, and thereby exclude by leaving the option unchecked, the country and region only applies to listings. It seems to me that this should also be an option for the location switcher.
We only want the city name included in the URL, so that the URL would be “/directory/phoenix/,” for example. How can we change this?

Currently that is not possible and it would require a very complex customization.

However I want to extend how permalinks structure works, so in the future that could become a viable option.

Can’t promise a date yet though.

    Thanks

    Paulo,

Thanks for your answer. Is it possible for us to implement a mod_rewrite (see below) that removes the country and region from the URL? Will this somehow interfere with the sessions?

    Example: RewriteRule (.*)/united-states/arizona/(.*) $1/$2 [L]

    Any feedback on this?

I don’t think it is possible, you could try do some testing and let us know.

    Thanks
