Like I said: You cannot just change the color of the background for one type of page only.

There is a way for everything, but that requires customization.

The reason you could not navigate to the region or country was because you had this setting : GD > permalinks > Add city slug in listing urls
That is only a valid setting if you only use one region and one country.
You can remove tabs at GD > design > detail > Exclude selected tabs from detail page.
