    Hi,

I seem to have lost the ability to add/edit all wpgeodirectory post types in the backend. I can add/edit them via front end menu links, just not via backend. I’ve looked at the error logs on the server and there is a string of wpgeo errors thrown up over past few days.

    Here’s a video > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8YDX_FVbK0

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Hello Mike,

the most common cause of odd link behavior in the backend/dashboard is a conflict with another plugin. Try disabling non-GD plugins, especially those related to cache, or those that insert JS into forms and especially those that insert JS into forms on the backend.

    Hey Alex,

I’ve disabled EVERY plugin so there is nothing running. It’s notable now that I can;t even “add” or edit a standard post in the backend. Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Hello Mike,

you can make a private reply here with your WP Admin and FTP credentials and we could take a look to see if we can find the problem.

    Mike,

I was able to login, activate GD, and open up a local bike shop for edit in the backend. Is that what you were trying to do?

Could it be your browser cache or a chrome extension?

In essence yeah, but I still can’t add/edit in the backend at all. I have cleared my browser cache and I’ll disable all extensions and do a hard reboot. see if that makes any difference. Can you actually see the Add/Edit links in backend then?

    Thanks
    Mike

If you mean like “+New Local Bike Shop” , yes.

In your video a lot of your links were colored, too, I didn’t see the same thing, but a lot of plugins were disabled at the time.

I’ve just logged in using YOUR credentials and I see the add/edit links for sure. Logged back out and back in using my admin credentials and hey presto theyre gone again. Is it a permissions thing somewhere? I’ve been playing about with various membership plugins etc so it may be something stored against my admin userole in the db. Any advice on what to look out for in db?

    Ah, good test!

WP 4.9 introduced some changes about roles, including an interface for managing the permissions.

If you put up another site and install the plugins you need, you should be able to compare and contrast.

Or you could review the docs here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities

For the DB, I will point you over here for some background on “Proper Uninstallation”
