If I import 50 listings under a sub category “Italian Restaurants” from a CVS, those listings go directly to the sub category.

If I see all the categories the parent “Restaurants” category shows cero (0).

If I try to manually post a listing to “Italian Restaurants” I cant, I have to select “Restaurants” before and then “Italian Restaurants”. Then its counted as 1.

    So there are 2 things.

1- If I have 50 in the sub category “Italian Restaurants”, the parent category should show (50), not cero.

2- I should be able to select a sub category without selecting the parent first.

    Cheers.

    1. Does the count change if you use GD > GD Tools > Sync GD Categories ?

    2. That is not how GD works. Every listing needs to be in a Custom Post Type, and a category. Sub-category is optional.

    1- No
2- But I am able to import them directly to a sub category.
Actually this is how WordPress works as well, you add to any sub category (without selecting the parent) and the parent shows how many.
So its not implemented correctly here. I should be able to select a sub category without selecting the parent first. Just like the import lets me to. (Of course parent showing the number)

    1. This is the way we have it set up to work, it is best to have your listing in both sub cat and main cat.

    2. If you really want to go this way then you can change the category select type under GeoDirectory>Place Setting(or your CTP)>Custom fields>Category>Category display tyle>
You might want checkboxes or whatever works best for you.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
