Map / Advanced Search Not Working

Hi, love the plugin! I have a couple questions because I think something may be off with my setup.

1. Can you explain to me how the advnaced search is supposed to work? You’ll notice I have he advanced search displayed on the listings pages, for example: http://liveout.staging.wpengine.com/places/united-states/california-1/baseball-2/

but when I type a keyword, it seems it pulls all keywords from all states, even though it is currently set on California.

2. The popular locations widget, for example, at the bottom of the page I linked above. When I click on a link (http://prnt.sc/c7drym) it takes 20 seconds to load the next page and the map fails to load. I believe this is because it attempts to load all 175,000 locations in our DB (http://prnt.sc/c7ds17), when it should only load those locations for the specific area (city) I have selected. If that were the case, it should only load ~100 or so for most areas, which would load a lot faster. Perhaps I misconfigured something? Can you please check? And even when I select a filter on the right menu, the map/page fails to load (http://prnt.sc/c7dsxx).

These are the two main issues I am experiencing. I can send you my login if you need to check on the back-end. Please advise.
