Map markers in cpt

In my events CPT when I create a new category and try to use a category icon and category colour to create a map icon it is not working, no icon is created.

I am able to add ones that have already been made by clicking select icon but for new categories, I need new map icons. There was a similar problem a while ago with this and I think this has only came back recently

from this link you can see the map icon is the default even though i selected and saved the colour purple with a font awesome ticket icon.
