Hi,
This is probably pretty simple, but I can’t figure out what the fix is.
I had to change the theme of our site and move it to a new server over the weekend. The domain, and all of the structure is the same. As part of the move process, I deactivated all the plugins, backed up and then reactivated on the new site.
Everything looks fine except i’m getting a blank page on our home directory page, and can’t figure out why. Everything is the same in the settings, and nothing has changed.
Using GeoDirectory 1.6.17 w/ Custom posts 1.3.2
GD Home Directory is https://vrvoice.co/directory/
Thank you,
Bob
February 20, 2017 at 10:15 pm #362747If you change theme, you have to redo the widgets. Did you do that?
Can you send us admin details in a private reply to check your settings and data?
Thanks.February 21, 2017 at 6:12 pm #362945This reply has been marked as private.February 21, 2017 at 6:17 pm #362946Hi,
the GD home page and location page are all made with widgets. We add them when adding dummy data, probably that’s why you don’t remember adding them, but if you change theme the only option is to add them back manually.
Thanks
February 21, 2017 at 6:32 pm #362947Paolo,
Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. Did you make this change for me?
If not, do you have documentation online so I can do it myself?
I’m not sure I understand where I need to add the widgets.
Thanks,
Bob
February 21, 2017 at 6:57 pm #362951Hi,
all you need to do is go to Appearance >> widgets and add the widgets that you want in the various GD Home widget areas.
Please see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/
Thanks
February 21, 2017 at 7:18 pm #362965Paolo,
Hi. Ok….got it now.
What’s the best way to get the original default layout settings that come out of the box?
Do I need to export all my data, reinstall the plugins, and then import all my data?
Best suggestion for fixing broken image links?
Thanks,
Bob
February 21, 2017 at 10:06 pm #363026The layout [sidebar, top section etc) is preserved in the settings of GD.
All you have to do is add widgets to the sections at Appearance > Widgets.
That should be a lot simpler and faster than anything else you suggest. There only seems to be a few images missing? Just add them again would be easiest.
Thanks
February 23, 2017 at 6:34 pm #363442Hi guys,
So, i’m not able to get different widgets to show in any section except “GD Top Section”. I can have widgets on top of each other there, but it doesn’t help with layout design.
I’ve tried adding widgets to “GD Content Section”, “GD Bottom Section”, etc., and nothing shows.
Also, I can’t find any documentation on how to be using the widgets on the right side: “GD Listing Right Sidebar”, “GD Search Top Section”, etc.
Can you login and take a look? I added login info earlier to this thread.
Also, is there a way to remove the category check box menu on the right side of the map?
Thank you,
Bob
February 23, 2017 at 6:42 pm #363449Also, why is not showing a “GD Left Section”?
February 23, 2017 at 7:54 pm #363466This reply has been marked as private.February 23, 2017 at 10:21 pm #363491Like Paolo says, make sure to add the widgets at
Appearance >> widgets
or direct link https://vrvoice.co/wp-admin/widgets.php
So far only widgets are added to the top section, see image.Too remove the map legend, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/common-styling-examples/#legend
Thanks
February 24, 2017 at 5:04 pm #363678Paolo,
Hi. The sandbox was helpful. Couple questions/issues:
1) If you look at my directory homepage: http://vrvoice.co/directory/ the login box on the right is showing up on the bottom instead of at the GD Right Section. Thoughts on that?
2) Is there a way to make the category text smaller at the top?
3) If you look at the first listing detail, the left side of the image window is getting cut off. I’ve checked if it’s a width issue with the theme, and that’s not the problem. Is there a way to reduce the detail widget slightly so it shows up better?
Thanks,
Bob
February 24, 2017 at 11:20 pm #3637681. Have a look at GD > Design > Home tab
The width of your content section was set to 75% and the sidebar to 25%. That does not leave room for any padding between the 2 elements.
I changed to 72% – 25%2. Added some CSS to GD > Design > Scripts, adjust as required:
.gd-cptcat-li h3 { font-size: 14px; margin: -10px; }
3. Your theme is adding this CSS:
ul li, ol li { line-height: 24px; margin-left: 21px; }
I fixed that by adding this
.geodir-slides li { margin-left: 0; }
to GD > Design > Scripts
4. I have de-activated W3 Super Cache, it is not compatible with GD:

Thanks very much for the help so far. Couple last problems on the detail listing page:
1) Left border still now showing
2) “Company Tags:” not aligned to the left
3) Very strangely, when you click on the video tab, it doesn’t show properly, but if you do a refresh, then it does.
Please see the attached image for more detail.
Thanks,
Bob
