Map – Zip Code Search

    I would like for the map on the main, front page to return a map for a zip code search when no listings are found. In your demo a null zip code results returns a “Popular Categories” page without a map and mostly blank. Is this a selection option? I can not write code to change it, if it is not an option. Thanks!

    When I enter a zip code, on the demo map on the main page, if there are no listings in that zip code it takes me to a “Popular Categories” page without a map and the page is mostly blank.

    I would like for a null zip code result to just stay on the main page and show that zip code area on the map. People can see there are no pins in the area, but they are still on a nice page with map and ads, and they can drag the map around looking for listings.

    My site is mostly US, so zip code search is important.

    Hi,

    The map shows listings only if there are results, if there are no results it loads a text message saying:

    No Records Found

    Sorry, no record were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again.

    There is no point in loading an empty map.

    The map on the page you mention is on the right sidebar, but it can be moved on top and the message can be customized, however it is not possible to load the empty map.

    I like it that when I do a zip code search for real estate on craigslist, zillow or trulia it returns a map, even if there are no listings, then I can drag the map around looking in other areas. Also, I feel that a page with map, info, and ads is more pleasing to look at than an default page. I thank you for your time. Marilyn

    Marilyn there is another plugin for realestate that allows even for mls import. I am experimenting with multisite network with that particular plugin for real estate and this one for the business listing of business categories “other” than real estate. It seems that it will work… What I have done is to add a navigation menu item to go to the sub-domain realestate.domain.com in the network.
