    Hi,

I’m having some issues with the maps displaying places and events

    1. on https://getdirections.asia the 1st map displays all places
If you select/unselect the categories, the markers on the map stay exactly the same.

    2. on https://getdirections.asia/places the map should display all places, similar to the map on the home page. As you will notice, it doesn’t show all markers and is different from the map on the home page

    3. Same thing happens with the maps displaying the events
on https://getdirections.asia the 2nd map displays all events.
When going to https://getdirections.asia/events the map should display the same events. As you will notice, it is not.

On the events map on the home page selecting and deselecting categories seems to work partly, depending in what order you select/deselect the categories. I added 2 screenshots with the sunday roasts enabled showing different results.

    Regards,
    Tony

GD Map has an optional param all_posts=true

If that is set in an archive map it will show all the listings, not just the ones in the current paging set.

Just remove that param for any maps where you don’t want to show all posts.

Hi Alex, that doesn’t seem to make a difference. Also noticed that all_posts=false is used in the maps. The map on the home page is created with a shortcode. The map on the places page is with the map widget. I will change that to shortcode as well so I can troubleshoot both the same way.

Selection and deselecting the categories gives strange results as you can see in the screenshot. This was taken while the all_posts parameter was removed from the shortcode.

    Thanks,
    Tony

/places/ and /events/ are archive pages and should use archive maps. You have directory maps setup there instead. You should change those to archive maps.

You mean edit the archive item page and add the map there?

No, the Archive template, that is currently showing a Directory map. It should be showing an archive map instead.

Edit the Archive template and add a new GD Map shortcode and be sure to choose the map type as archive.

    Hi Alex,

I have never touched or edited the original GD Archive template. See screenshot. I do have 2 seperate GD Archive Item pages, one for places and 1 for events.

    Alex,

I added a GD Map widget and used the following settings as seen in the screenshot for the places and event pages, as well as for the search results pages.

In the show/hide options for the map you can set it to display on Archive/listing pages only.

Location and WP pages use directory map.
Archive and Search archive use archive map.
    Details page uses post map.

    Hi Alex,

thanks for this. A bit of confusion there before. I removed the widgets and added the GD Map in the archive and search pages. Those seem to be working ok now.

The problem with the category filter on the directory maps we use on the WP pages isn’t solved though. Can we look into this?

    Thank you,
    Tony

When I click the categories the map refreshes and the totals change.

To take the map pins to zero use the arrow on the right of the parent category to expose the subcategories. Unselect all those to see even more pins disappear.

    Hi Alex,

ok, now I know where my confusion comes from. The ‘yellow’ marker by itself on the top right next to Cambodia is a guesthouse called Buddhaview. So the marker color is correct and the link is correct when clicking on the bubble.

BUT, it doesn’t disappear when unselecting guesthouses under accommodation, it disappears when unselecting restaurants under eateries.

    Thanks,
    Tony

If it has both categories, both would need to be unselected. The icon is based on the default category.

Hi, all our maps using the ‘directory’ type on our WP pages are suddenly showing no records found. The maps on the archive pages seem to be working.

Please have a look at https://getdirections asia

    Thank you,
    Tony
