Migrate from Business Directory

    Hey!

    So I finally got sick of the Business Directory plugin and just purchased the required plugins to rebuild a directory with GeoDirectory instead.

    I’m hoping there’s an easy way to migrate, there’s not many listings on my site but I’d love to have an easier option than manually transfering.

    Also – thoughts on transferring recurring subscriptions?

    Thanks for choosing us. Could you please check and see if the “Business Directory plugin” is capable of exporting listings into CSV file? If it’s possible, refer to this section of the documentation on how to import listings into GD https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/

    I flagged this for the developers to follow up on the question about transferring recurring subscriptions.

    I wish we had a conversion tool to move from business directory to us, it’d probably incentivize more people to take the decision you just made…

    Unfortunately at the moment we don’t, I’m sorry!

    Hello!

    A quick search of the BPD site and I found some docs about export.

    https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/docs/#admin-export

    Follow those instructions to create your export of listings and categories.

    Setup a test site with GD, and get a copy of the export for listings.
    You can add your custom fields first too, if you like, then export to get a CSV file with all the columns.
    Rearrange your data into the new column structure, and follow the GD instructions for import:

    Let us know how it goes! And we will follow up here when we have information about subscription import. Which payment gateway do you use?

    Note: It is a really good idea to do a test setup on a test site to get your import working well.

    Who are the recurring subscriptions setup with? (paypal, stripe etc)?

    Anything is possible, it just takes work 🙂

    Hahaha! My position EXACTLY. The latest “update” on Business Directory just didn’t sit right with my needs. Now I have to find a way to convert, or manually transfer thousands of listings
