After upgrading most of our Geo modules, our events page and our places page are now missing both the Geodirectory search bar and their sidebar. Also, the Add Events page redirects to the homepage instead of going to the event entry form.

I’ve added events back under the navigation tab. Paolo had already done that for me last week (I had the same problem minus the missing widgets) and it reverted back for some reason. But I’ll see if I can find the conflicting plugin and keep an eye on it.

To answer your second question, yes, the widget all disappeared after upgrading. I’m not even sure which widget we had where. I’ll try to put them back in place but I might have some more questions.

I found the missing widgets all in the “inactive” area. Where they all devalued in the last upgrade?

    Hi there,

Not sure what’s causing this as we aren’t having any similar issues currently reported by other users, so it seems this is isolated to your side for some reason. I’ll get Paolo to follow up on this.

    Thanks!

Thanks Kor. I’ve added the widgets back to the listing detail sidebar and top content (widgets: search, popular posts, events listing) and they seem to be back in order. However, the search results page looks really messed up. I’m attaching a screenshot.

I got the search page sorted too. All our widgets ended up in different frames, for instance, our sidebar widgets ended up in the top content area. It’s all good but thought you’d want to know for your release records.

Normally this happen when you switch to another theme. Did you rename your child theme or something like that?

    Nope, didn’t rename it.

Did you install any new plugin that allows to create/manage new sidebars?

Not that I’m aware of. Nothing like that is on our plugins list. However, we have had around four developers work on the site since 2104, (no documentation of their customizations seems to have been created) there may have been some coding done that customizes how the sidebars work. I don’t visually see evidence of that on the site. The sidebars seem standard.

I’ve only seen this happening once with the Enfold theme, because they had a system to create custom sidebars. Unless you find a way to recreate the problem, it will be very hard to identify.

Let us know if it appears again.

    Thanks
