    Greetings:

I understand that the standard way of monetizing GeoDirectory is all about charging customers to add listings, which makes a lot of sense.

In addition to that, would it be possible to sell packages to visitors interested not primarily in advertising their product or services, but accessing the directory’s most sensitive and strategic information such as emails, contacts and so on for their own marketing campaigns or product pitches.

Example : let’s say that I started with a listing of app. 10,000 businesses with contact names, title, addresses, phone numbers and emails that I put up myself. Right now, I have no way to show or hide specific fields of information to specific categories of visitors : they can all access the same listings and the same info. But if, through some kind of Premium package, I could offer a privilege access to contacts and emails, for instance, while regular visitors can only access company names and addresses, I think that could sell well since regular visitors will have the possibility to assess the “merchandise” or database quality and will want to get more of it should it fits their immediate plans.

That would require I think that the package grants the visitors with a specific status other than “subscriber”.

Would that be possible through the current GD plugins, albeit some tweaks, or would that require a new plugin or new programming and if so, how much would it cost?

Or is there another plugin I could use that would encompass Geodirectory’s data?

You’ll agree with me, I guess, that the more ways we find to monetize GD, the more happy customers and sales volume you’ll get! 😉

    Thanks,

    Guy

    Hi,

to do something like that you’d need to integrate with a Membership plugin. It’s not something that would work out of the box and we can’t provide a quote for a similar integration because we don’t provide such services.

You’d need to hire a freelancer through a website like codeable.io or upwork.com.

    Thanks

OK thanks a lot Paolo, that’s what I thought and I’m glad I asked.

Another quick one for you: can I increase the number of listings per page following a search on the GD search page?

Currently, it is set at 10 per page and I can’t find any way to increase that number.

I have inserted a GD Map into that page and would love to see the map reflecting the results of the whole research (20 listings, 50, even a 1,000 maybe or more), not just the 10 items of every page.

One way or the other would do : by increasing the number of items per page OR tell the map to integrate the whole research results.

    Thanks,

    Guy

    Hi,

you can increase the number of listings per search result page in Settings >> Reading >> Blog pages show at most.

The map will show the same number of posts, it’s not possible to change that.

    Thanks

You made my day Paolo! Many thanks! That’s fantastic.

By the way, following your suggestion, I just left a request to codeable.io.

Would you be interested in a follow-up on this? I mean, generating a new revenue source stream out of GD is something that seems to me relevant to your mission, isn’t it?

    Thanks,

    Guy

    Hi,

currently we consider this a customization and something that could be done in so many different ways that we really don’t feel like supporting any of them directly.

We’ll probably build our own solution for this in the future.

But yes, let us know how it goes,

    Thanks

    Hello Paolo,

I contacted codeable.io this WE as you suggested and here’s their proposal:

“thanks Guy, here is what i will do for you. I will install WooCommerce, WooCommerce subscriptions and memberships on your staging website ** you need to get license for subscriptions and membership plugins as they are not free, also create online staging version from your website** I will configure these plugins to work together override some templates and functions in your child theme, so that I allow premium user only to see these fields. I will provide documentation that is clear and clarifies what I did and how this will work. Note that: WooCommerce has some templates for cart and checkout functionality, user will be able to pay and finalize his order within WooCommerce work flow. if any changes needed in WooCommerce templates, (like customizations) or changes I will estimate this separately when needed. also all email templates is easily controlled from WooCommerce settings, but if there are more customization needed, I will estimate this as well as needed. I can work on this from next week, and it will take approximately 1 working week to be ready and tested Thanks, Saad”

    Price tag: 1150 USD

    What do you think?

    Hi Guy,

I’m not in the position to judge if that’s a good proposition or not.

It is really up to you.

    Thanks
