My users can't register for the directory

I have some potential clients who are trying to register to become paid members of the directory. All they are getting is a place to enter a username and password as if they have already registered.

Sounds like you need to enable registration on your site, this is a standard WP setitng
WP>Settings>General>Anyone can register
