Near – search is not working

    Hi,

    We have implemented the geodirectory as a plugin with one the theme and the issue we are facing currently is with near me function.

    1> When we click on blurb on map then it get loaded the detail page and from there if click on breadcrumb : Let say “Pune” then the page get open with listing of Pune city along with near me box filled with Pune

    But when we manually type Pune to search manual process then it i returning 404.

    2> From the landing main page if we search Pune through near me button then it re-direct to home page of the website.

    3> Also if let say we are on Chennai city listing page and from there if we change the state and city – in our case let say we changed to “…./maharashtra/pune” then pune listing page get loaded with near box filled with text Pune city

    We have already share the login detail and FTP details, so pls. look into this problem.

    Please post your WP admin details in a private reply, so we can check it out. We do not keep login details. You seem to have a conflict with another search function. Thanks

    1. Please update the GD core plugin to the latest version.
    2. I also turned off GD Booster, because you are already running another caching plugin, you should only use one.
    3. Your permalinks are set incorrectly, but they cannot be changed because your htaccess file is not writable: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#postnames
    4. Your GD permalinks were not set correctly, you cannot choose /region/city/ only if you allow listings in more than one country.

    Please fix 1 and 2 and we will have another look for you.

    I now updated GD core manually.

    .htaccess only needs 644, see https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions#.htaccess_permissions

    The files and folders on your site are owned by different users, which may be the problem, see the image below. That stops updates etc, and may be the source of your issues.
    You should make sure they are all owned by the same user.

    The next thing to try would be to de-activate your other plugins to find which one is breaking the GD search.

    Let us know how you go with that.

    Hi,

    Very sorry but have one more question.

    “Add new Business form field” We need to add more such customized features but the option is not available. Can we create such more customized fields other than what is mentioned in the options.

    The first question cannot be looked at until you fix your file owners. Contact your host to fix that problem and also the problem with the .htaccess file as reported at http://www.mehendi.gallery/wp-admin/options-permalink.php

    You can add any extra fields you want at GD > Business Settings. Please review

    Hi Guust,

    Pls. visit the domain : http://www.insurance.guru

    We have used same theme to run the website. This domain does not have have the issues like mehendi.gallery .. why?

    Everything is working fine at insurance.guru as there also we don’t have consistent file owners.
    Nearby search is working 100% correct.

    This is what we need to check at mehendi.gallery site. If search is working fine at insurance.guru and not at mehendi.gallery, it means on site mehendi.gallery there is something (plugin or theme) that causes conflict.
    Are you using same non GeoDirectory plugins & theme at insurance.guru site? If not then find out plugins which are active at mehendi.gallery but not at insurance.guru and disable them one by one.
    This will help us to reach closest to the excat cause for the search problem.

    Hi,

    We have identified the issue. the present issue in search is caused by the Yoast SEO. Last time one of the support person “Stiofan” looked into and supposed has provided the solution. But again issue has started coming due to yoast.

    Just a reminder, we cannot do away from yoast seo pluggin as the primary theme need the same for good seo.

    hence, pls. look to and provide the solution.

    ##### Last solution by Stiofan: He had written

    OK this is what i have done so far:

    1. add listing_type to the excluded Yoast query values so it does not remove it.
    2. Edited the theme file: /uploader_theme/includes/extensions/members_lite/members_lite.php
    lines 231 and 232 as they casue a not needed redirect which was also breaking the add listing page preview.:

    Hi Piyush,

    Finally found that the Yoast setting causing conflict with GeoDirectory search variables.

    When i checked “No redirect” for SEO > Advanced > Permalinks > “Redirect ugly URLs to clean permalinks. (Not recommended in many cases!)” the near me search worked fine.

    So to work near me search, you have to disable that redirect option as it already says “(Not recommended in many cases!)”.
