Hello!!
Just starting with GeoDirectory. Excited about I am able to get the things I expect.
I am creating a page in Spanish for expatriates and visitors in Hong Kong. I want to cover local news, city guide and tips both for people living in Hong Kong and for tourist.I think GeoDirectory is one of the best choices for most of the things I need. 😀
I am sin one theme called Weekly News that looks like a magazine very nice, but looks is not very compatible with GeoDirectory.
Do you have any advice or recommendation of a theme that can fit with my idea?
The page don’t have too much by the moment but you can take a look of how is the template that I am using now: http://www.hongkongframed.comThanks!
October 20, 2016 at 1:13 pm #288254Hi Emilio,
I’m glad that you’re liking our plugin, have you checked out this two free themes that are fully compatible with GD? Here are the links.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/directory-starter/
https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/supreme-directory/You can probably use the magazine theme for the main domain and insert a link that points to the GD homepage on a subdomain. Do you have an idea about what I mean here?
Thanks!

Do you think these themes can fit with news style webpage easily?
I love Weekly News, but now that I am starting from scratch maybe is better start with a theme fully compatible with GeoDirectory as the ones you show me.I understand what you mean about create two different pages linked, but I am not sure if this will be a good idea in order to integrate comments both in the news and the directory and that the user experience looks better…
I will check it 😀October 20, 2016 at 3:25 pm #288440Actually I am consider to buy the yearly subscription, so maybe other of the themes provided is more recommended to my needs. What do you think?
October 20, 2016 at 8:10 pm #288710hi,
you can make that theme compatible pretty easily, just go to GeoDirectory >> Theme Compatibility, select “Custom” where it asks Select Theme Compatibility Pack.
After this add “container” (no double quotes) in the class field of the hook geodir_wrapper_open (1st at the top of the page).
That should instruct GD to use the same class your theme uses for all other pages as wrapper and adapt the content to the theme templates.
Let us know how it geos,
Thanks
