Hi, I am trying to register as a new user and using one of my email addresses (not an email address I used to set up the directory). When I input my email address and full name there is a notice saying that a password has been sent to me by email but I am not receiving the password email.
Also I when I retry to register with the same email address and name I am not getting an already registered error message.
Help please. Thanks.
Les
August 11, 2014 at 9:47 am #11609Did u check spam folder of your email client too please ?
August 11, 2014 at 10:01 am #11610Hi Vikas,
Yep, I have checked trash and spam, sorry nothing there.
August 11, 2014 at 11:33 am #11619Hi Les, did you ever get an email from your website ? (I mean using the standard WordPress notifications). It could be something with your host, having issues with phpmail. Try to use a SMTP plugin, e.g. this one .
S.August 13, 2014 at 11:39 am #11849Hi, I have had similar issue & have used smtp plugin as above, the test email works fine but when no email sent to new user or for request new password, I just get email:
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:[email protected]
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
my SMTP Host details
550 Messages should have one or no To headers, not 2.August 13, 2014 at 1:33 pm #11876That error could be possibly happening due to a remote server rejection (not on your side). The server could be reject the email if your host/domain is not “trusted” or if it contains unwanted keywords
August 13, 2014 at 2:09 pm #11886Thanks but I have tried to a few different email addresses that work with messages sent direct from the email set for the site & with test messages from SMTP plugin, I don’t think it could be unwanted keywords either as GD Notification Options are as default settings. Do you have any other ideas?
August 13, 2014 at 2:14 pm #11887Oh, I haven’t see the error on the last line of your previous message.
Somehow the script is adding two “To:” headers, that’s why the email is being rejected. Is there a way you can debug the output of the SMTP plugin? (or you can try another SMTP plugin and see if this is happening only with the plugin you’re using). Try with this one
August 13, 2014 at 2:23 pm #11889Also might want to try the Mail Bank plugin.
cheers
August 13, 2014 at 2:26 pm #11891I have already tried with Wp Mail Bank & had the same error & tried different Encryption & Authentication settings, cant see how to fix the “To:” headers.
August 13, 2014 at 2:42 pm #11893Did you try with Easy SMTP Mail? I tried now on my test site and it works like a chram (using GMAIL as SMTP)
August 13, 2014 at 3:35 pm #11901Tried this with usual mail & I get same ‘error 550 Messages should have one or no To headers, not 2.’
Thought I would try Gmail but after getting Application / device sign-in attempt (prevented) from gmail,so I changed gmail security settings but Test email process still failed.
August 13, 2014 at 3:39 pm #11903That’s very strange, I’ve tried with more than one email (not GMAIL too) and each notification works fine (new user registration, forgot password etc).
Are all your GD plugins up to date?August 13, 2014 at 3:52 pm #11907Yes set to auto update & I have only had GD installed for about a week
August 14, 2014 at 8:24 am #12003Working ok now, after changing to another email address. Could it have been the email that I had been using was from the same as the domain name? Yes very strange
