one site versus multisite

    I’m curious, before I get too deep on single site… I am thinking long term, besides the directory, adding forums, possible community classified, etc.

    Long term, would it be easier for maintenance and consistency of design to set this all up in a multisite install versus ending up doing sub domains of a single wp install down the road?

    Thanks for any opinions you may have, as I have never used multisites, I’m trying to get a clear pic.

    Possibly just my personal opinion, but defintiely yes.

    I would go multisite.

    Thanks for your input Paolo.

    If I continue with cloudways and go to multisite, this means varnish will be disabled on everything created within that install, do you think this will slow other sites created, such as a forum, etc. Can I enable memcached for the geodirectory site? I disabled it because I wasn’t sure what it was :).

    Thanks again, I know this last question(s) is not really in the realm of geodirectory help…

    Both Varnish and Memcache can only be enabled/disabled for the entire server. It will not change if you are using multisite or not.

    Memcache doesn’t give any problem as far as I know.

    In our demo it is enalbed.

    I am glad somebody brought this up as I am not too familiar with multisite so did not even consider it.

    So in effect, if we are doing a global directory, I am assuming that each country would be a separate site on the network?

    Ok did some research and I understand a bit more clearly the advantages of multi-site.
