Why subcategories dont have their parent category in the url anymore?

    “Hotels” is Subcategry of “Attractions”:
    “Hotels” = http://rboq.com/off24/anbieter/category/hotels/

in GDv1 it was like this:
    “Hotels” = http://rboq.com/off24/anbieter/category/attractions/hotels/
(but in GDv2 this shows “Attractions” and not “Hotels”)

    “Attractions” = http://rboq.com/off24/anbieter/category/attractions/
(this shows already “Attractions” >> Why have 2 urls that show the same content???)

For SEO I guess it’s better to have the parent categories in URL as well.
And better not have 2 urls that show same content, right?
    So
    http://rboq.com/off24/anbieter/category/hotels/
    this should forward to
    http://rboq.com/off24/anbieter/category/attractions/hotels/

    Thanks for clarification,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

We spent some time looking at the best way to do cat permalinks and this made the most sense, this way all cat and cat/location permalinks are the same length and structure, GDv2 cat permalinks are different from GDv1.

    1) From what concept to what concept will it change?

    2) In a migration case what effect does this have for the crawlers? Redirect? Or thousands of 404s?

Basically we changed from adding the location in the middle to adding it at the end
    /places/france/attractions/
    /places/category/attractions/france/

We will add a check to the is_404 to redirect if we find this.
