Past events don’t show the dates in the sidebar (upcoming events do). So people are getting confused about what events are new and what events occurred last year. For example: these two event don’t show anywhere that they are actually from previous years? Is there a way we can fix this please? https://playinginpuddles.com.au/events/winter-in-the-park-gosford/#post_content

You can add the event date to the sidebar.
If you are using GD Output Location, then add Event dates to the sidebar in the custom fields.
Or you can add GD Post Meta for events dates to the sidebar.
Is that what you are after?

We are using the custom fields to output to sidebar. It works fine for upcoming events, but for past events, the date does not display.

I created a task to look into this and possibly show the actual events date for past recurring events too.

It’s not only past “recurring” events. It’s all events in the past that don’t show a date. After the event occurs and it slips into the “past” the date disappears from the right column.

Please do look into this soonest, as this is creating real problems for us and our readers. People are coming across events that happened 2 years ago, but they have no way of telling that it’s an old event; I’m going to get very unhappy readers if they visit places expecting to find an event – only to find out it’s not on!

See here for some examples (screenshots attached too):
This is an event that happened on the weekend. The date appeared in the right side bar until the event fell to the “past” just a few days ago: https://playinginpuddles.com.au/events/food-farm-harvest-festival/?gde=2019-06-09

This is from 2 years ago and I had readers finding this event last week and thinking it was on this week, as they have no way of knowing it’s from 2 years ago – https://playinginpuddles.com.au/events/bush-tucker-talks-australia-walkabout-wildlife-park-harvest-festival/?gde=2017-06-10

As this is an urgent matter, we have updated our events sidebar to include a warning message for users. We’ve disabled the event data output via events custom fields – details sidebar, and are using a shortcode in the sidebar instead. The shortcode [gd_post_meta key=’event_dates’] outputs the dates for all upcoming events, but it is empty for past events. Something is preventing it from displaying. Your help to rectify this asap would be most appreciated.

    Hello Katie,

There is an option to show/hide past event schedules on event page.
On your site that option to hide past event schedules is ticked at GeoDirectory > Settings > Events > Hide event past schedules?

Please untick to show past schedules on event page.

    Hi Kiran,
In unticking that box it does display the events again on events that have passed, but it also displays all past events on upcoming events too – i.e in recurring events. This isn’t really a great option, as it means I have to manually remove every date as it occurs to make the listing appear up to date.
    I don’t think v1 acted this way.
Here are some examples to show how it displays (plus a screenshot):

Can you please tell me if there is another option, as this isn’t going to work for recurring events – and I have a lot of recurring events.
    Thank you,

    Hi Katie,

I have updated that option Hide event past schedules?.

    – Hide event past schedules? TICKED
If event has no upcoming schedules then it will show past schedules otherwise it will show only upcoming schedules.

    – Hide event past schedules? UNTICKED
It will show all the schedules

I have updated this on your site too, please check and let us know.
