Hi,
My website is loading slow, queries taking up to 10 seconds. This has been getting worse as the number of listings increase, whereas the expectation was that the directory could scale infinitely and support millions of listings. We are still way below this figure and as the website has still not gone into production, traffic is limited.
Recently we moved from a shared server to a VPS with 4GB of RAM, SSD and two CPU cores, expecting that this would lead to significant improvements. While I don’t have any more timeouts / 504 errors, page loading is still slow and I see CPU loading reaching 100%.
Have tried different optimization plugins, but limited success.
Could you please take a look and let me know if there is something misconfigured, or that can help? Thanks

Thanks for your post. Kindly provide both WP admin and FTP access to your server in private reply and we’ll check on it. In the meantime, please try increasing the PHP values listed below on your server as much as possible and see if it helps.

https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/faq/performance/March 20, 2019 at 11:19 pm #475633I have, but will go through the list again. But I wouldn’t expect that these optimizations would lead to such dramatic improvements. 10 seconds for a page load, on a website with still no visitors worries me a lot for when it goes in production…
In the meantime, could you find anything wrong looking at WP admin and FTP?March 21, 2019 at 12:49 am #475642Well, your server is timing out when I try to connect with FTP. You might start there.
March 21, 2019 at 9:42 am #475691That’s weird. I was having problems before with a shared hosting and as per GD team’s recommendations moved to a VPS with a new hosting provider. Problems persist.
My new hosting provider – who has been providing a tremendous support – tells me this must be from the wordpress environment / plugins.
Bottom line question is: are such performance issues normal for a directory such as mine with about 20.000 listings, and yet no traffic? I suppose you have experience with demanding environments.
We may consider moving to a better performance VPS plan (8 or 16GB, quad-core, etc.), but need to know we are doing the right things on the platform side.
We have been postponing go-live due to performance issues…March 21, 2019 at 5:41 pm #475755Hi,
This is what I get from GTmetrix. Can you please help with addressing the recommendations?
Thanks
March 21, 2019 at 6:52 pm #475766Hello,
The first few things i notice that need fixed are
1. caching was using a caching method not supported (i changed this to disk but thats not the bestoption)
2. Your category icons are trying to use https but thats not working which means you have 32 broken links on your sire which is like trying to load your site 33 times… U should get https working on ur site.
3. I could not get better search replace to work, this is the first time i have ever seen that, i would guess thats something to do with the server specs…Lets start with getting https working.
