How do I fix the missing add
places menu in the admin section? This happens when I import the
site’s database via phpmyadmin? I tried using the tool in GD tools
section and it didn’t work. I also tried deactivating all the plugins
(with the core GD last) and deactivating them. I also tried uploading
    a new copy of GD.

    Hi Pascal,

Thanks for reaching us. Could you please share WP admin access in private reply so that I could take a better look at it?

    Thanks!

    Hi Pascal,

Please share FTP access too so that I could pass this along to a developer. Meanwhile, try going through the Better Search and Replace one more time and see if it helps:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-search-replace/

    Thanks!

    Hello,

At this time what I understand is that you want to add an “Add Place” link to the Navigation menu.

You can find this option in GD > Design > Navigation

    Hello,

    thank you for the clarification.

    To restate, you have

    1. Imported a database of listings via PHPMyAdmin
    2. Customized a template

and the main issue is that “Places” has disappeared from the WP Admin menu

    Is that about correct?

Have you tried uninstalling the data?
Have you removed the plugin and uploaded a new copy?

When I go to the following URL it says invalid post type: /post-new.php?post_type=gd_place

That tells me that GD plugin is either incomplete or not completely installed.

Please try completely removing it and uploading a new copy.

Let us know how it goes

    Hi Pascal,

Thanks for your reply. Like I’ve mentioned earlier, you need to use this Better Search and Replace plugin to change the URLs so that it points to your new domain.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-search-replace/

Go through this article from WP https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

When you first moved the site did u do a text search and replace of the site url? I am guessing you did as this would be the exact result..
Copy the DB again and this time only change the option values home_url and site_url then you will have access to thebackend, there u can use better search replace to replace the url everywhere else.
