Hello! I’m very new to WP and am trying to help a friend create a directory for her business, so I’ll need an “explain like I’m five” sort of answer. Whenever I go to activate the plugin, I receive this message:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /hsphere/local/home/cymather/directory.istasounds.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/helper_functions.php on line 831

Where do I even begin to address this issue?

Hi Jessica,

Could you please make sure that your server is running the PHP version higher than 5.3? It’s a requirement for GD https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/#installation . If the issue persists, please share WP temp admin access to your Website so that I could check further.
