Hi, we just bought the whole package and already installed most of the add ons.
We are building a directory of holiday homes.
Trying out now with the themes Directory starter and Supreme.
But thinking of buying the Genesis theme in order to use one of the other child themes.
After comparing, we choose to use google maps over openstreet maps.

Now, with all the paid publish plans of google maps. If case we buy the genesis theme….
Does any of the child themes have the possibility to switch on and off the google maps publications?.
Or if you want. We dont need a “publication” of google maps on the homepage.
If you go to “Places” were all places are listed, still no need to have a publication of google maps, but all listings would need the address published so visitor knows at in which country and city the holiday home is located.
When you click on a specific Place, you get all the details. Basically still no need a publication of google maps, but obviously yes the address details should be published. Here the client would have the choice of a link to or a button which says “show this place on google maps”. Or something like that.

Is this possible with one of the child themes that need Genesis? Or is this already possible with Directory starter or surpreme?
Or are you working on this for future updates of the V2?

Thanks very much for your time

You can cut down on map views (What Google charges for after their free quota) by not placing a map widget into the GD Home or GD Listing widget areas.

The Map API is independent of the theme, because GeoDirectory is a plugin, not a theme. You choose the Map API through a setting in

    GD – Design – Map

Since you are just starting your directory you should consider trying V2.

GDV2 should work with any theme so you can choose one of ours (which are great!) or another theme with which you are already comfortable.
