    Hi All,

I started a directory site with GD exactly 2 years ago, which I eventually didnt launch as V2 was just about to be released and while waiting and hoping for more much needed functionalities I started another project.

I’m now back on a new directory project, however, this one now is more complex as it requires more advanced functionalities such as:

    – an advanced search funtionality (see later below and attached)

    – booking of appointments

    – taking deposits & payments

    – distance rate calculator (exra price depending on distance from user to listing location)

    – listing reviews by categories (in addition to one overall review) with possibility to upload images, listing owners to comment, and other useres to vote up and down, and reviews to be only possible if customers have made a purchase etc.

From my experience and understanding, GD doesn’t cover any of these more advanced functionalities, however, WooCommerce does. Unfortunately, I remember and also having searched again, there is no support on integrating GD with WooCommerce and their plugins, so I decided to look elsewhere. In my search I ended up with Listify, which seemed less sophisticated but stronger on the integration with WooCommerce. However, when I did my resarch, I also noticed that in the past users complained about their support response time, so I questioned them about it before buying. I was assured that the issue would be now rectified and support is typically provided within 24h, and so I continued my purchase.

I’m now on day 3 waiting for a response, which is unacceptable to me. So in my despair I naturally compared the support I always had with GD in the past, which at times was frustrating as well (when I was told my question would be a customisation question and support wouldn’t help me, even though I didn’t want a solution and merely a hint of direction where things can be found). However, eventually I always received at least a directional solution within hours (never days!) to proceed and wasn’t left alone – I’d thank again at this point particularly Guust, who was a real asset and I probably would have given up on GD if it wasn’t for his continued great help.

With comparably better support received in mind (vs Listify), I’m currently reconsidering my choice of choosing Listify vs GD and so I thought it’d be worth reaching out to discuss a few essential questions:

    1) is there any documentation or support in terms of integrating WooCommerce (as payment gateway) and it’s plugins, in particular WooCommerce Bookings? And if not, what would be the complexity level from a developer point of view to integrate WC and their plugins, i.e. how many hours of work / $ would it potentially cost?

    2) we would require a search function that integrates with the booking plugin (see example screen shot). The desired time input is used to check via the booking plugin in the background the listing owners availability to tailor the search output (ie either only available listing owners are shown or unavailable listing owners have a “booked out” banner). Would this be possible to be integrated in the GD search and how complex and costly would it be to integrate it?

    3) we would require a layered search functionality (see attachement), i.e. a user selects from a menu a variable and conditionally on that receives more options of variables which are then checked against listings criteria. Is this possible with GD and if not how complex and costly would it be to integrate this?

    4) the serach functionality would also allow to add more than 1 person and any extra person carries individual search perimeters. How easily could this be integrated?

    5) is version 2 of GD final? I have seen many sticky posts referring to a beta.

    6) is version 2 now easier for developers to make customisations in the code?

    7) has the documentation for developers with regards to customisations (code changes) expanded materially over the last 2 years as part of v2?

I’d be very gratefuly for your answers and guidance.

    Many thanks
    David

    1. GeoDirectory has basic integration for one-time payments with WC as the cart. For additional features you would need to provide your own code.

    2. GeoDirectory developers plan to add a booking option in a future version but currently do not have any features related to booking.

    3. That is not a GeoDirectory feature and would require your own code.

    4. That would require your own code.

    5. It is the current release.

    6. Certainly, and many hHundreds of items that previously required snippets are now part of V2.

    7. No, but new docs are in the works.
